Check out these REAL moose antlers!!!!! They were REALLY heavy... and quite big "17 points" (How many points are on the antlers)
I still haven't seen a real moose over here.... but I haven't given up hope yet! I've still got 6 more weeks here to find one.... October 21st 2012
Life is so busy! I'm continuing to see and do as much as I can on weekends. I've been loving "Fall" (Autumn) over here because just about all the trees have changed from green leaves to bright yellow, orange and red leaves! I've taken some beautiful pictures. School has been busy because it is the start of a school year here and we are all settling in and have been getting to know one another over the last 6 weeks. I've been driving to a few different places in New Brunswick. I went to Grand Falls and went on a flying fox (Zip Line) across a big gorge there which was lots of fun. This past weekend I went looking for moose... I have also tried Curling which is a Canadian sport - a game played on ice. I can't believe there are only 9 weeks left until Christmas Holidays... only 9 weeks left here! It won't be so long til I am back at Brunswick South West!

Well, today is the last day of "Summer Vacation" and my goodness haven't I had fun! I've seen SO much of this beautiful country. I've had friends and family visit and have travelled together. Tomorrow I start back at work, although the children won't start until next Wednesday (September 5th) I'll add a few photos here of my time travelling across Canada (and the USA)
I have travelled from Coast to Coast: Prince Edward Island, Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montreal... as well as Seattle and New York City and of course seeing more of my Canadian home here in New Brunswick!

We saw some wild Black Bears in New Brunswick!
I found a real Mountie wandering the streets of Banff!

It is Summer Holidays here now! The kids have almost 11 weeks off school and the teachers about 9 weeks. I've been busy packing up the classroom and will move into a different classroom in the school when I come back to start with my new grade 2 class in September. The weather has surprised me, we've had quite a few warm days: high 20s and low 30s (and it is very humid here, so it feels much warmer) Last weekend there was some rain and back to low 20s, so it kind of reminds me of home too, cos we never know what to expect with Melbourne's weather! ;-)
Personally, I keep exploring new places on the weekends and keep very busy. Here are some photos from the last month:
At Harvard University in Boston, USA
At St Martins Sea Caves along the the coast of New Brunswick
I spotted another deer! In St Andrews, NB

It's been a busy month of weekend travel! I've visited Halifax, Nova Scotia and Ottawa (Canada's Capital City), Ontario. This weekend I'm driving down to Boston! We have only 5 weeks now until the END of the school year here. It's funny to be finishing in the middle of the year!
I was interviewed for the local Fredericton newspaper too! The weather continues to improve - there has been a bit of rain and most of the time the weather is high teens-low twenties. It is warmer here than I thought it would be. Guess it'll be summer in only a couple of weeks now! I've seen a few birds: Robins & Cardinals (bright red bird) but I'm still looking for Woodpeckers and Blue-Jays. I saw my first Raccoon and Groundhog in Ottawa!
Hope you are all well at BSWPS!!!! :-)

Hey! Thought I'd share a few more photos from the last month. We didn't have a 2 week holiday like at home, I just had 4 days off over Easter. I had a road trip around pretty Nova Scotia with Michele, another exchange teacher here in New Brunswick. We had a lovely time. I saw my first deer! Yay! I crossed the border (into USA) on the weekend, things are much cheaper over there! It's funny to live so close to the border and have it be so different. Also, we needed US money! I saw the World's Longest Covered Bridge, which is here in a place called Hartland, New Brunswick, about 2 hours drive north of where I am living. We have had Professional Development Days the last 2 Fridays... so this is the only week this month that I have had to teach for a whole week! Enjoy the few photos... It is going to be very difficult to make an album after this year!

Look out for MOOSE!

Hey all! The weather here is changing! We had three crazy days where it got to 27 degrees on the first few days of Spring. (not normal weather for this time of year!!) The snow has just about melted everywhere now. I went for a big walk and took some photos of pretty Fredericton.
This weekend, I went to Moncton, another city about 1.5hours away, to do some shopping. I had to be careful driving back because there are many signs saying "Deer" and "Moose" Luckily though, I haven't seen any while driving (In fact none at all yet...) I went to Kings Landing Historical Settlement (a bit like Sovereign Hill) where people dress up and re-live life in the 19th century. It was a good fun day.

Hey all! I'm back from a holiday to Washington DC, where the sun was shining and I could see grass and flowers and birds again! (All the birds fly south during Winter here in Canada - to warmer places) Anyway, had a great holiday. Saw sooooo many museums! I touched a piece of rock from the moon which was 4 BILLION YEARS OLD! I saw the T-Rex fossil in the National Museum of Natural History (The movie "Night at the Museum" was based on this!) I also visited the Zoo and got to see a Giant Panda! I'll attach some photos of my trip below! I spoke to Lucy and Chris this week. They told me that school is going well and that the Fete was good fun! Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend :-) Chrissy

Hey everyone! Can't believe I've been away for 2 months already. Things are continuing to go well here in Fredericton. Light switches are upside down here and I just can't seem to remember it! I'm always turning switches off when I want them on, and on when I want them off! People in Canada use different words compared to us in Australia, for example: you have to say "washroom" for "toilet", your "butt" is your "bum", "markers" are "textas" & a "full stop" is called a "period" here. I've really noticed how many words we shorten too! Sometimes it's like I speak a whole different language!
We had some rain during the week and lots of the snow started to melt away.. I could see some of the grass again, but overnight we had a big snow storm and got lots more snow. I went out walking in it this morning, below are some photos I took.
Next week at school is our last one before March Break, (we have one week off) I'm going to Washington D.C (The Capital City of USA) with another Australian teacher.
Hope all is well back home :-)

Here is a picture of me making a snow-angel! Obviously, I am enjoying the snow over here in Canada!

Hi everybody! Everything is going great over here in Canada! Fredericton is a beautiful little city. Here is a photo of me about to go 'snow-shoeing' - you put these things on your feet (like tennis racquets) and then you go for a walk in them. It is supposed to make walking in the snow a bit easier! It was lots of fun!
Today, I am NOT at school, because it is a "SNOW DAY" which means it is snowing a lot outside and so they cancel school!
The snow is beautiful. I love it! I have been downhill skiing, which was great fun. I am not awesome at it... yet... so I have to keep on practising! School here is going well. The classroom is similar to BSW, but the school grounds are different. There are swings for kids to play on and of course LOTS and LOTS of SNOW! The kids LOVE to go out and play in the snow at recess and lunch!
I am going to Quebec City this long-weekend to learn about their Education System (They speak French in Quebec!) and have FUN at the Winter Carnival with other exchange-teachers.
Hope you all have A GREAT start back at school for 2012. ;-)
